COVID & Mask Policies for the Summer

Hello families,

Alyssa and I were apart of a Planning for Child Care Summer Programming 2021 COVID Q&A Zoom Meeting yesterday that was put on by both Public Health and Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. Through the Q&A and current studies we found that it is important to stick with what we have been doing with just a few tweaks. Please read below the LCLA Summer 2021 COVID Policies so that the staff and families are all on the same page.

If you have any questions or concerns with the policies written below please feel free to email or call me.

I appreciate everyone’s part in keeping our staff, children and families safe.

LCLA Summer 2021 COVID Policies

Due to changes in city and state mandates, we wanted to update everyone on our COVID policies and expectations through summer. It is important to note that while many of us adults have or will be vaccinated, the population we care for has not. All policies are to protect our young children as best we can.

*Mask wearing will continue to be required for anyone over 5 years old while inside and for pick up and drop offs. We will be allowing masks to be removed by staff and children during outdoor play times, as long as, social distancing occurs.
*We will continue to do drop-offs and pick-ups at the outside classroom doors for the summer.
*We strongly encourage families to quarantine after traveling. While you may surround yourself with other vaccinated people, the children still do not have that protection and could potentially receive and spread COVID-19 to the other children. This will not be a requirement, but would be greatly appreciated if possible.

*We will no longer be taking temperatures at the door. However, we will still expect open communication between families and teachers. Please let us know how your child is feeling and if we should be monitoring for any symptoms. Our teachers will check temperatures when and if they deem it necessary. Children will be sent home for the following symptoms:
*Fever of 100.4 or above: Staff will take your child’s temperature at least twice before calling. Your child will need to stay home for a minimum of 24 hours. They may return when the child is fever free, without the aid of medication, for 24 hours.
*Vomiting: Children will be sent home and may return after 12 hours after last episode of vomiting.
*Diarrhea: Children will be sent home after two or more large stools that could not be contained in a snug fitting diaper within 24 hours. Potty trained children will be sent home if they have two or more large, watery stools in 8 hours, or one loose uncontrolled stool for which the child is unable to make it to the toilet. The child may return 24 hours after their last episode of diarrhea.

*Siblings will be able to come to school when other children in the family are unwell. Staff will monitor closely for any signs of illness.
*We will require anyone awaiting a COVID test to remain home until receiving a negative test.
*We will report any positive COVID cases to Public Health and follow their guidance when determining the need to quarantine or shut down classrooms. Regular tuition fees will continue to be due every Friday, even if we have to close a classroom or the center. If for any reason you need to cancel your contract we will follow the Voluntarily Contract Termination section
