Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease

Hello families,

Unfortunately; LCLA, especially our traditional center, has been greatly affected by Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease.

“Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is a viral illness and can occurrence in any age, but most often in infants and children under 5.” I am attaching a document from Wisconsin Department of Health Services Division of Public Health that describes this more in detail.

On a daily basis we sanitize all of our toys, wash our cot mats, sanitize our classrooms and vacuum. Our soft toys go through he washer a few times a week as well as all the daily sanitized toys by our disinfecting sprays get sent through our washer/sanitizer once a week.

Hand, foot and mouth spreads very quickly because at this age most toys are mouthed by the children. We are very careful about putting mouthed toys in a bucket to get cleaned throughout the day.

Before coming in for the day please look over your child and check for a fever. Most spots will be seen around the mouth, hands, feet and knees.

As soon as we notice any spots we are going to call you to have your child looked at by your doctor. To be able to return you child must be fever free, without the aid of medication, for 24 hours and all spots must be scabbed over.

If you have any additional questions or concerns please feel free to email me at littlechicksdirector@gmail.com or call me at 608-233-1610.

Thank you for your cooperation and understating.
